How to convert BMP to JPG
BMP (Bitmap) is an older image format used mainly on Windows. BMP files are very large and uncompressed, which makes them slow to upload and hard to share. Converting to JPG makes the file much smaller while keeping the image looking the same.
Steps
- Open the Snapfold Image converter.
- Set Convert from to BMP and Convert to to JPG.
- Drop your BMP files in, press Convert images and save.
How much smaller will the file be?
A lot smaller. A BMP photo can be 10 to 20 times larger than the same image saved as JPG. For example, a 10 MB BMP might become 500 KB as JPG with no visible difference.
Will I lose quality?
JPG uses lossy compression, which means some detail is removed. At high quality settings the difference is invisible to the eye. Use the High quality option in the converter if quality matters.
