How to convert GIF to JPG or PNG

GIFs are animated images made of multiple frames. Converting a GIF to JPG or PNG saves the first frame as a static image. This is useful when you want to use a GIF thumbnail as a photo, or when a platform does not accept GIF files.

Steps

1. Open the Snapfold Image converter.
2. Set Convert from to GIF and Convert to to JPG or PNG.
3. Drop your GIF file in, press Convert images and save.

Will the animation be kept?

No. The converter saves only the first frame as a static image. If you need to keep the animation, you need a dedicated GIF tool.

JPG or PNG for a GIF frame?

Choose JPG for photos and colorful images — the file will be smaller. Choose PNG if the GIF has a transparent background or sharp text, because PNG keeps those details better.
