How to convert WebP to JPG or PNG

WebP is a modern image format developed by Google. Websites use it because WebP files are smaller than JPG or PNG at the same quality, which makes pages load faster. The problem is that some older apps, email clients, and online forms do not accept WebP, so you may need to convert it first.

Steps to convert WebP to JPG

  1. Open the Snapfold Image converter.
  2. Set Convert from to WebP and Convert to to JPG (or PNG).
  3. Drop your WebP files in, press Convert images and save.

WebP to JPG or WebP to PNG?

Choose JPG for photos — the files are smaller and work everywhere. Choose PNG if the image has a transparent background or sharp text, because PNG keeps those details better than JPG.

Why does my download end up as WebP?

When you right-click and save an image from a website, your browser sometimes saves it as WebP even if it looks like a normal photo. That is the most common reason people end up with WebP files they did not expect. The converter handles those files the same way.

Is WebP good or bad?

WebP is a good format for websites. It is only inconvenient when you need the image outside a browser. Converting to JPG or PNG gives you a file that works in every app and on every device.
